Video games and Linux
Hi All,
Recently, I have been working with Ubuntu 20.04 and Pale Moon web browsing software to determine if one can use these on a Macbook Pro. So far, there is promise, and there are developers and volunteers ready to support one in this site.
Next question(s), include old video games from Microsoft. Of course, there are platforms like Steam and GoG to provide most support, but there have been some video games that have fallen by the wayside. Like Need for Speed: High Stakes.
Has anyone been able to access this game in Linux, either through wine or through native support ?
New games that use DirectX 11 work great with DXVK.
Old games that use DirectX < 9 work great with dgVoodoo2 and DXVK.
I haven't tried that game specifically, but I did try The Longest Journey with dgVoodoo2 and DXVK. It works, probably, as well as it can on any modern machine (some of the mouse hot spots are off, as they also are on modern Windows).
