ut2k3 installation. libpixmap.so and segmentation faults during install.

Running on slackware9.1 with a GeForce4MMX440SE 8X AGP, 1.3GHz AMD Athlon, 256MB RAM and a KT4 Ultra Motherboard.

I copied the linux_installer.sh to my home directory and opened a terminal and ran sh linux_installer.sh and the first few lines that pop up read
Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate loadable module in module_path: "libpixmap.so"

I do believe that library is on here, but I don't know if it's in the default directory or not, it's a pretty fresh install of slack. libpxmap.so is located in /usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.2.0/engines

The bigger problem, though, is that while installing ut2k3, once on the second disk and almost through with it, it just closes out with a segmentation fault.
I thought maybe it was the CD or CD Drive, so I swapped out the CD Drive and copied the ut2k3 cds on another machine and made new CDs. The copy went fine, and so did the drive swapping.

I get the same error every time, and on the same file every time with *this* cd set, with the other CDs, it was with a different file.
The error for the new cd set reads..
cp: cannot create regular file `/home/floods/ut2003//December_cp.utx.uz2': Permission denied
failed to uncompress file.
./setup.sh: line 214: 9419 Aborted "$setup" "$@"
./setup.sh: line 214: 11971 Segmentation fault "$setup" "$@"
The setup program seems to have failed on x86/glibc-2.1

Fatal error, no tech support email configured in this setup
The program returned an error code (1)

I have now copied the CDs to my XP box, and then copied them to my slackware box.
A way I think that may fix it is if I am able to mount /home/floods/ut2k3cd1, /home/floods/ut2k3cd2, and /home/floods/ut2k3cd3 to /mnt/cdrom, just long enough for the installation, but I can't mount a block device, or don't know how to right now.

Is there any fix to be able to install from the CDs, fix the libpixmap.so dependency, and if not, could I mount the folders to /mnt/cdrom possibly?

Well, by a little bit of cheating, I was able to get this installed.

Here's what I did.

networked the folders ut2k3 is on under windows. I then went to linux and in a console put mount -t smbfs -o username=myusername, password=mypassword //server/ut2k3cd1 /mnt/cdrom

and re-ran that command with the appropriate //server/ut2k3cd# each time and viola. There may be a 'better' way to have done this, but whatever works.

First thing I think when I see something that says Permission Denied is, did you su into root before executing the the installer? I know it's simple but I need to ask.

Also with your slackware you may want to make sure you have recent versions of SDL and openAL. Not sure either one are needed but most Loki style games need these to my knowledge. UT2k3 was done by icculus so I assume he would use the same or similar items as other loki style games required.

Another good place to check out just incase is here. They may have something that can help in the faq but am not sure either.

And for the final step. Just incase there was a step missed somplace. My How-to article may help.

I understand you found a way around it wich is cool, but you shouldn't have to do that to get it installed. Anyway, hope some of this proves usefull.
