UT2004 Sound Hickups/Lag .. I've done a search here

I've done numerous searches here ever since I installed Slackware 10 last night and so far i've solved all my problems with Nforce2 (network drivers) and Alsa (Sb Live! choppiness)... I got all these problems because I installed with the 2.4.26 kernels where nforce and alsa support isnt built in (or so I've heard)

So XMMS plays mp3s flawlessly and glxgears reports average 1050 fps on a AthlonXP2000 + GeforceFX5200.

However I have more problem remaining: my sound in UT2004 causes lag spikes in the game.
I first noticed it during the Nvidia logo where the monster is breaking the logo and a spider bomb comes.. And also during the game when I shoot my gun initially or if the bot does or if a new sound plays, it lag spikes. My Ut2004 is updated to the latest patch btw.

I searched this forum and tried tweaking my Ut2004.ini settings, I tried changing the openal.o (driver that comes stock with), with one that was tweaked to use the sb live hardware better (i found the link from this forum) and i had to compile it and use that.. Nope, nothing works..

So I decided, well OK, if the sound is causing this, why not disable the sound in UT2004. So i went on the UT2004.ini and set all the options relative sound to FALSE, and just in case, I also muted all the volumes and turned off any thing that would be related to volume.

I ran UT2004 again and it still happens! As if I havent changed anything..

Now I know the problem isnt with my video card because tuxracer works, glxgear works, fps in ut2004 is nice (i also set it all to low quality everything), I get no errors about my nvidia card, ive done all the tweaks in my xorg.conf for my card and in the modules.conf to maximize my card such as the option for side band addressing, fast write, agp8x, render accel..and still nothing.. and I tried turning off those options too to see if it work and still none.. I also tried removing the libSDL that comes with UT2k4 so it would use the one that came with slackware default and still nothing.

So now im thinking, maybe I should just reinstall and try the 2.6.7 kernel that comes with the second CD, and if that doesnt work, download the latest stable kernel and see if it works..

BUT before I do anything, I want to know what you guys think? What is this problem and what could be the source? Please help, and please, only constructive help (i've read alot of posts here since my install of linux last night and alot of people give answers which arent constructive or sometimes goes off topic and doesnt even try to answer the question).

Thanks in advance!
