Whoah, I can't wait to give it a whirl. Hopefully this will be better than last one.

So far I liked it a lot!

Try it out. It's been critiziced (did I spell that right?) a lot, due to weapons changes and such, I agree with many of those critics, but the fact is that the game is MUCH faster than UT2K3 ever was.

Dumb question, but how do I run the game?

When I extracted the tar file, all I got were a bunch of directories. So I looked in the Systems directory and there is an executable file called 'ucc-bin'? So I typed:

./ucc-bin and all I got was something like ucc.exe and to type ucc help for more options.
Any tips?

There's a Spell Check button when you push the "Reply" button. But you don't see it if you just reply in the little reply box below a post.

And, no, it's not spelled right.

Edit: oops, the spell check IS there in the reply box below the thread.

You did untar the .tar.bz2 file, right? a huge 400+ Mb file called UT2004demo-lnx-x86.run or something, right? You must run that file in order to install the game (you may need to chmod it to make it executable). Once installed you just type ut2004demo

Yes I noticed it after I posted... I did decide not to change it, because, anyways English is not my mother language... And because it could be a good oportunity to learn something new

D'oh! All my 3D rendering is messed up in here, as well as the games I run on Wine(x)! I thought it was only a Wine(x) problem, but I guess it's vid-card one instead!

Doh! I realized I downloaded the Dedicated server, not the demo. That makes more sense. I feel dumb

I keep getting this error trying to install. I get this error trying to install any game. I have 35 gigs so I have plenty of room. I also have 512 DDR ram so thats not it. Im running Arch Linux and am kind of new at it, so not sure if I am cleaning out a temp file or not. Anyone have a idea?

Verifying archive integrity... All good.
Uncompressing Unreal Tournament 2004 Demo for GNU/Linux 3120.......................................................Extraction failed.

I usually don't get into games. But, since more and more game developers are developing for linux it is a blast. I down loaded 2003, it was good. 2004 is great. I might just have to buy this one to support further development. Good engine. I have not had a crash at all. Really good performance for a 2.4 celeron w/512mb of ram. I should be getting a P4 in a couple of months. Maybe the prescott.

Again good game
