open /dev/[sound/]dsp: Device or resource busy
Couldn't set video mode: Couldn't find matching GLX visual

Exiting due to error

Which distro, graphics card and driver, any recent updates, particularly related to X or xorg??
A common scenario is getting that kind of error after an xorg update when using the nvidia driver. Reinstalling the driver usually fixes it.

I got the same problem yesterday when I upgraded my slack 10.0 to 10.2 the problem was the glx wasnt loading.

The solution was:

1) Reinstall again glut package. (remove then reinstall)
2) Reinstall nvidia driver ( my case ). My OpenGL screen saver was so slowly. I did a kernel compilation.
3) Modify the next directories:

Finally playing again with my friend UT2K4.

That happened to me this weekend. I upgraded my video card from a FX5200 to a 6800. It's the same driver, so I figured it would work. But UT2004 had the same error, I reinstalled the driver, and all was fine again.

The 6800 really rocks too. Gonna start doom3 again now too now that it will be playable.
