ut2003 problems

Hey all, I got ut2003 installed on my MDK 10 system. I can start the game up just fine, the nvidia logo plays, but when I get to the menu and into the game, it freezes up for about 30 seconds, then I can run around. Freezes up and then I can move. The sound seems to be a bit distorted. Is there a way to start the game w/o sound? I want to see if that's the problem. If not, then I'll update my video drivers.

thanks.

okay, that didn't seem to help. I'm gonna try installing the newest Nvidia drivers and see if that does the trick. I'll try dumbing down some of the textures and what not too.
