UT GOTY run
/usr/local/games/ut/System$ ut
dirname: too few arguments Try `dirname --help' for more information. Couldn't run Unreal Tournament (ut-bin). Is UT_DATA_PATH set? ummm.... ok now what ?? |
try just "ut" at the command line (no " ")
|
as you can tell from the original post . that is what i did do, but thanx for asking
|
check that there is a link in /usr/bin to the appropriate ut file
make one if there isn't then try again |
The one you want to run is:
/usr/local/games/ut/ut cheers... |
I have this problem too, even when I run the "usr/local/games/ut/ut".
|
Hmmm. should work. Must be a problem with the install... does the file
/usr/local/games/ut/System/ut-bin exist? is it's executablble. etc? |
Yeah. I fixed the "data_path" problem, but now it segfaults! Just dandy!
|
Sorry to hear that. ut is one game I've had very little trouble installing, tho have had some video issues with some of the nvidia drivers... I'm not sure what to suggest other than a reinstall... What 3D hardware/driver are you using?
|
Reinstall doesn't fix it, neither does setting it to install only the game data, bins, or both. My sig shows all my hardware, and whatnot. Its alright if you don't have any idea whats wrong, you can just say you're stumped. A segfault is a pretty generic problem.
|
I'm stumped :) I'm assuming you have the nvidia binary 3D driver installed and working okay. I don't think that there would be no problem with reiser... I used to use it and I can't imagine that would be an issue.
I'm running ut on mandrake 10 with the 2.6 kernel, tho I had it on the 2,4 kernel before that... Maybe even a 2.2 for that matter... |

... How did you fix the UT_DATA_PATH problem?
\[bump] |
$ export UT_DATA_PATH=/usr/local/games/ut/System/
