Just finished installing Unreal Tournament 2004 on FC 2 and when I go to the 'ut2004' object in the games/ut2004 folder it opens the UT2004 splash screen and then disappears and does nothing? Am I missing something here?
Bravo, I also have this exact same problem, and I'm newer to linux so I'm not sure exactly where to start for troubleshooting. Could it be because I just installed mandrake 10 and it might not have bugs worked out yet? Or is there something we're forgetting? Please help!
try runnig it from a console and reading any error messages, also check the log in ~/.ut2004/System/UT2004.log and print anything here that you dont understand
Have you downloaded and installed the accelerated graphics drivers relevant to your video card? Due to licencing restrictions, linux cannot be shipped with these, so, like in windows, you have to install them yourself. Please post the type of card you have, or do a search yourself for installation instructions/help on these forums.
Please don't hate the noob! I understand that i have to run it from terminal to see what error messages there are but heres the kicker...i only know of cat and more and to open stuff in text editors, how do you run a shell script in terminal, and also how do i find out what graphics card i'm running (i got this box from a friend) and which drivers i need?
nevermind, my dumbass figured out how to run it in terminal and i figured out that i need some sort of nvidia drivers, if any drivers are needed at all. The error i get is
"Can't find 'ini:Engine.Engine.GameEngine' in configuration file"
Distribution: Gentoo 2004.2: Who needs exmmpkg when you have emerge?

Did you fiddle around with any of UT's files after installation? Try reinstalling. As for the drivers, maybe you could ask your friend what it is? If its an nVidia card, itll probably work with the official nVidia drivers from: http://nvidia.com
PS: If you want to run a shell script in a terminal (theyre .sh or .run files), there are 2 ways.
1: sh your_file.sh(or .run)
2: ./your_file.sh(or .run or any Linux executable)
