Unable to use the keypad when running half life
Hi all,
I am trying to run half life using wine, and am unable to use the keypad. The install went fine, I am able to configure opengl, sound keypad bindings etc from the menu screen using either the mouse or keypad. When I launch a new game, or the hazard course, I only have mouse control and no keypad at all. The only keypad response I can get is ctrl+alt+esc to kill hl.
Is this likely to be a hl problem, or a wine problem. I am using MDK9.2 with the wine rpm for it. I tried the source code and compiling, but it would not work even though everything installed ok. (Kept complaining of no hard drive space in hl install) Anyone any ideas as my head is now considerably more follicly challenged than when I started.

Hi,
I am using the latest rpm for MDK9.2 (20040121 -mdk ) and have carefully followed all of the instructions in the hl how-to. I know the keypad works in other games, e.g.quakeII which makes me think this may be a wine problem. Have you any more ideas

Found the fix. It turns out to be a wine problem when running ful screen, managed. The answer: add the following lines to wine.cfg:-
; Use a desktop window of 640x480 for Wine
"Desktop" = "800x600" (or whatever size you want)
This then allows keypad follow on to the wine app.
