Trying to run grim fandango with wine...

Hello all,

I am currently running slackware current. I have compiled the latest wine from source and setup the config file. I am able to run notepad.exe.

However, I am not able to run grim fandango after doing the install. In the install directory, I run

Code:
wine Grim.EXE
but it complains about directX 6.

Elsewhere, I read that you should try running grimfandango.exe, which I copied from the cd.

However, running

Code:
wine grimfandango.exe
gives me the following errors:

Code:
sting@greenstone:~$ cd .wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/LucasArts/Grim/
sting@greenstone:~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/LucasArts/Grim$ wine grimfandango.exe
err:module:import_dll Library Lua.dll (which is needed by L"C:\\Program Files\\LucasArts\\Grim\\grimfandango.exe") not found
err:module:import_dll Library chore.dll (which is needed by L"C:\\Program Files\\LucasArts\\Grim\\grimfandango.exe") not found
err:module:import_dll Library iMUSE.dll (which is needed by L"C:\\Program Files\\LucasArts\\Grim\\grimfandango.exe") not found
err:module:LdrInitializeThunk Main exe initialization for L"C:\\Program Files\\LucasArts\\Grim\\grimfandango.exe" failed, status c0000135
sting@greenstone:~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/LucasArts/Grim$
Does wine come with directx? I have tried installing the latest directx with wine (9.0b), but it says that I don't have the correct windoze OS.

Has anyone gotten grim fandango working, and if you have, do you have any pointers as to where to go from here?

Thanks!

yeh..

The best thing to do is go to the winehq website and see if anyone has been able to do it. OR.. search google to see if anyone has done it yet. If they have, they'll prolly tell you how.

not all programs for windows can be run with wine in linux. In fact, few can. Check around.

I have been checking around. Google, winehq, and the like.

Some people have been able to get it to work, but they haven't given enough details.

I think it is related to directx though.
