Trying to install UT 2004


hey im new 2 ydl 5.0 and im putting in the ut2004 disc and clicking the install icon 4 linux and nothing happens can some1 help me plz thanks

I think you may be out of luck.

If ydl stands for Yellow Dog Linux, as I think it does, then you'll be running Linux on a PPC box (a Mac, probably). As far as I'm aware, UT2004 is only available for x86 Linux.

In that case you are indeed out of luck. The PS3 uses a processor derived from the PPC/Power line, so x86 applications won't run on it.

The PS3's 'Cell' processors are derived from the IBM 'Power' processor line (601/3/4 and G3/4/5 Apple Macs, and IBM's 'Power' servers use a similar core design).
UT2004 is an x86 game, compiled for the x86 architecture. Since your processors are not x86 class, you cannot run x86 games and apps natively.

You are, therefore, out of luck. And no, I'm not kidding.

That said, you can recompile any of the open sourced ID games to run on the PS3...
