Question trigger refuses to start

I was using for some time trigger on Windows, but it was crashing all
the time. So, I managed somehow to install the openal rpm, copied the
built libraries to the necessary paths, but this is what I get
(Mandriva 2006, default kernel):

>trigger (3741)
Trigger init
Build: 0.5.2 on Jan 14 2006 at 10:04:52
Initialising PhysFS
Set writable user directory to "/home/alex/"
Reset writable user directory to "/home/alex/.trigger"
Application base directory "/usr/local/bin/"
Main game data directory datadir="/usr/share/games/trigger"
Loading game configuration
Initialising SDL
Create window and set video mode
Found 0 joysticks
GLEW initialized
Graphics: Tungsten Graphics, Inc. Mesa DRI Radeon 20050528 AGP 4x
x86/MMX+/3DNow!+/SSE NO-TCL
Using OpenGL 1.2
Initialising render subsystem
Initialising texture subsystem [SDL_Image]
Initialising effects subsystem
Initialising model subsystem
Initialising audio subsystem [OpenAL]
trigger: symbol lookup error: trigger: undefined symbol: alutInit
>trigger (3741) returned '127'

Could you please help me make it work? The author wasn't kind enough to answer to my email.

Thanks in advance.
