Tribes 2 Server


I'm wanting to set up a Tribes 2 server. I have the version of Tribes 2 thats available off of FilePlanet, not the Loki one. However, I have found the binaries for the dedicated server on the net. I've managed to install it, nad it appears to run fine, but not patch it up to 25034 (the latest) as it always seems to complain about no matching deltas for one file or another. If anyone has gotten it working on gentoo (or any distro for that matter), would you mind telling me how you went about it? Thanks .

I haven't a clue about it. Which engine is it based off? Quake?

Where do you get the files for the tribes 2 server? I have successfully set up quake and enemy-territory dedicated servers. I'm working on setting up a dedicated ut2003/4 servers as well.

Tribes 2 was done on the Torque engine. I'm not sure how similar that is to Quake/Unreal. As for where I got it, here is a download for whats basically an SFX archive which extracts the files from the cd to a directory. I just grabbed em and burned them to a cd . They included the autorun, manual, everything. Anywho, I grabbed tribes2d-wincd.run from here and used it to install the server. I had to do it in X cause it tends not to work from the console for some reason. I tried running it (with ./tribes2d -nologin -dedicated) and get output like:

There is a scripts.vl2 in ./base, so I guess thats supposed to contain all the scripts. Anyways, it stays up. It doesnt show up in the server list, and reports that its out of date when I try to connect via the console. So I got the tribes2-25034-cdrom-x86.run patch, and followed the instructions here, but only get back an error about no matching delta for /usr/local/games/tribes2/base/lava.vl2.

Any ideas?
