If you like games like star-craft, this is the game.
There's even a active modding community behind it (which the game supported by design)
It was pretty much the pioneer of 3d terrain, queuing commands. With some mods later on, you could have up to 5000 units per side.
Believe me, this game was & still is epic
"Wurm Online" (free till level 20, and monthly subscription to level up more) and "Life is Feudal" (buy to play).
I forgot to mention, that Wurm is older of the two and they are both very similar games.
