Steam service not started (Issue after reboot)

I've managed to get Steam working perfectly under wineX in Slackware 9.1, however upon reboot, I load back into Steam, and when I try to start a game I get a message saying that the steam service is not started, and cannot start the game. This then requires a reinstall to play again..

Anyone have any idea why it might be doing this?
