Steam Issue (Winex 4.0 Cedega)

Ok earlier I had Steam running, right after I installed it, but my video card was having issues. Well, as far as I know I have solved those video card issues, but now when I double-click the Steam Icon on my desktop(Mandrake 10) it just says 'Starting Steam' in the taskbar but it eventually just stops saying that and Steam never starts... what the heck? Any help?

Don't use your Steam icon, just go on to your steam directory and type winex (or cedega?) Steam.exe

Ok so that works, but once I try to close the terminal it closes Steam too... bleh.

EDIT: And now Counter-Strike crashes every time I try to start it up because of some filesystem error... gahhh..

If you want a shortcut to Steam on your desktop that works, change the command in the shortcut to somthing like this.

cd /home/user/TransGaming_Drive/Program\ Files/Steam/ && cedega STEAM.exe

It works for me.

Well it appears I've got it all working, but now my problems becomes this... frames per second. On WindowsXP I get 40-60 all the time... would be more, but I set my fps_max at 60. On Mandrake though, I was lucky to get 30, and the models, textures, etc looked like I was running software. I'm just going to assume this is the best I can hope for with Counter-Strike on a linux system?

What video card are you using? If you did not install official drivers, be it ATI or Nvidia, consider yourself as a lucky, lucky man to even be able to start CS :D

It seems to be a Mandrake problem cause I tried running cs too and it was pretty slow comapred to windows and I tried a lot of different Nvidia drivers but I can't get it running fullspeed like on windows...
