I use myself a PSX to PC (USB) adapter and it works pretty well with everything in Linux, from emulators to mplayer. Since I believe those devices works similarly, my guess is... yes, it "could" work
if you scroll down you will see a product called "PSX till USB-adapter". It's made by Rockfire and I got that one a really long time ago, so chances are that they even have a newer, fancier product around . I think it's called PSX Bridge, if that's of any help...
With that adapter you even get Force Feed back, which by the way, I could never get to work under Linux (the pad works wonders though).
