slow super tux on mandriva 2006

Hi everybody

I have just installed Mandriva Linux 2006 when I try to play super tux it's always fine for the first seconds until the penguin starts moving and it is too slow

I have S3 pro 32 MB
256 MB ram

It used to work fine on 10.1 but without sound
Any help will be appreciated
Thanks in advance

what processor do you have? It is probably using software rendering which is processor intensive. If possible, try to activate OpenGL hardware rendering.

thank you tuxdev for your contribution
the problem was from mplayer and lisa
they were eating resources and after disabling lisa and uninstalling mplayer to solve an Internet problem everything went back to normal
thanks again

Good to hear that. I always find it helpful to keep a load monitor around so that I can easily catch a runaway process.

IceWM has a load monitor applet in the task bar, so if I see a lot more load than I think should be happening, then I immediately start a rxvt and top so that I can see what is causing the problem and kill it. This doesn't really happen much though with other peoples' programs, just mine cause of infinte loops and such. It is still nice to see how much I am using the computer regardless. You can use GKrellM since you might not have a suitable applet.
