Slow FPS on ePSXe with Pete's MesaGL GPU

I need help finding a good gpu plugin for ePSXe. I'm running Linux Suse 10.1. I've tried all of the best GPUs around. The one I get a good frame rate on is P.E.Op.S. Soft GPU(XGL one)but the quality isn't that great. I tried the SDL one but it crashes ePSXe. I turned to Pete's gpus which I heard were pretty good but the XGL2 crashes it and the MesaGL works, and has the best quality from what I've seen but it has a really slow frame rate. Which one do you guys recommend? And if it's one I have a problem with, how do I fix it?

I just checked my Linux machine at school, and the last time I ran ePSXe, I was using Pete's MESA GL Driver. ePSXe works, but you have to do a shitload of tweaking, it's downright insane. But it's worth it to be able to play the Playstation on your Linbox. I can pull up my config files if you want, but more importantly, what kind of computer do you have (hardware wise) and do you have hardware acceleration enabled?

I'm having the same problem as LoneCanisLupus. P.E.Op.S. Soft GPU works good, but MesaGL has better graphics. They only problem as above MesaGL is slow. I thinks it's best if I write about my PC Set up:

Motherboard: K9N SLI Platinum
Processor: AMD Athlon 64
Graphiccard: ATI Radeon X1300 Series

I hope you can help me and sorry for my bad english (I'm not a native speaker as you can see)

Ciao Kevin

EDIT: I forgot to say I'm running Linux Ubuntu 6.06.

I'm having a similar problem and no matter how I supposedly tweak Pete's rather crappy plugins it just won't work any better, I ended up removing it. Has anyone found a solution to this ? Or is there any open source video plugin or emulator for ps1 ? (I'm sure they'll work better than any of pete's stuff)
