Saving in snes9x

I was curious as to what I'm doing wrong here. I was playing Zelda, and I saved my game, (so I thought). When I went back to play it, it was right at the beginning again. My character was there with my name, but no game info had been saved at all. I've tried it a few times and it hasn't changed. I thought that maybe the folder was made under root and so I couldn't write to it for the file or something, but that's not it. Is there a certain way I should be exiting SNES9x in order for it to save? The readme says it will write the save file when it is exited or a new game is loaded., so I know it has the capacity to save. Any help would be great.

Hmmm.... it seems I solved my own problem... I was logged in as root when running it! Duh! Anyways, you can let this one pass by.
