running a game that requires a cd
 
hi all,

ive installed winex and i have installed soldier of fortune but i cant play the game because it needs the cd to run. the config file has a drive mapped to cdrom and the cdrom is mounted but it doesnt work do i have to crack the file or is there a way to get it working? what if i wanted to play battlenet games wont cracking the file cause problems?

Most all Blizzard games work good from what I hear on wineX. As for SOF, there is a native linux version of the game. check out www.tuxgames.com I don't believe there is an installer for the windows cd version for linux. Typically if a cd needs to be mounted in wineX, I believe you may need to crack it or enable some of the special functions in the Point2Play menu. Other than that, I have no idea. :(
