quake3, fedora core 6 x86_64

Hi, i have yet another quake3 problem with linux (to add to the masses) and i'm fairly sure this is a new issue.

i've installed q3 on a new fc6 install, nvidia drivers are working fine, there is the usual sound problem sound doesn't work, but the problem which is concerning me right now is that it will not play in full screen no matter what resolution it's run in. I've added all the resolution types in the xorg.conf which used to be the problem with quake3 in fedora core 5 and slackware when i've installed it previously.

EDIT: the sound issue is that q3 doesn't like /dev/dsp, i don't know why because my user has read/write access to it and my flatmate has fc4 with q3 and his sound works perfectly when quake uses /dev/dsp, the only difference is he's running i386 and fedora core 4.

i can only put it down to a problem with fedora core 6.

my xorg.conf and q3 console dump can be found here:

http://members.optusnet.com.au/zeal0r/consoledump.txt

http://members.optusnet.com.au/zeal0r/xorg.conf

if anyone has a quick fix for the no sound issue that would be appreciated greatly and any help regarding the full screen issue will be appreciated equally.

What does q3config.cfg(not sure about this name) say? What resolution is noted there? Also is this file writable by user?

the q3config file uses /dev/dsp for sound, - seta snddevice "/dev/dsp" -, and it also uses r_mode 4 which i believe is 800x600, but as i've said i've tried every resolution from 640x480 to 1280x1024 (which is my desktop resolution and even that doesn't go full screen), and that file is able to be read/written by the user.

oh and it also has a settings - seta r_fullscreen "1" - which is set to 1 by default, so full screen is on in the config.

Is direct rendering on? I don't see a ' Load "dri" ' entry in your xorg.conf. It should be after the 'glx' entry. What does "#glxinfo | grep direct" say in your console?

i've tired to compile quake3 from source, and i get this error when trying to compile it:

debug-x86-Linux-2.5/Q3/game/game/g_main.c: In function 'vmMain':
debug-x86-Linux-2.5/Q3/game/game/g_main.c:212: warning: cast from pointer to integer of different size
cons: *** [debug-x86-Linux-2.5/Q3/game/game/g_main.o] Error 1
cons: errors constructing debug-x86-Linux-2.5/Q3/game/game/g_main.o

this seems to only be an x86_64 problem, as everyone i've seen who has compiled on x86 machines get no errors.
