quake2 nosound

Hi i got an soundproblem with quake2.
I use quake2 from the quake4 special edition.
Installed with tuxgames installer.

The error i get is
------- sound initialization -------
ALSA lib pcm.c:2090:(snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM oss
ALSA snd error, cannot open device oss (No such file or directory)

Now i tried the /dev/dsp and /dev/sound/dsp also.
But i think it's an mixer problem, because i can get sound that is crappy with dmix.
The crappy sound is like theres an strange high sound infront of the game sound.

I use 2.6.15 kernel with alsa compiled in.
CONFIG_SND=m
CONFIG_SND_AC97_CODEC=m
CONFIG_SND_AC97_BUS=m
CONFIG_SND_TIMER=m
CONFIG_SND_PCM=m
CONFIG_SND_SEQUENCER=m
CONFIG_SND_OSSEMUL=y
CONFIG_SND_MIXER_OSS=m
CONFIG_SND_PCM_OSS=m
CONFIG_SND_SEQUENCER_OSS=y
CONFIG_SND_RTCTIMER=m
CONFIG_SND_SEQ_RTCTIMER_DEFAULT=y
CONFIG_SND_INTEL8X0=m

I have alsa-lib-1.0.9 alsa-utils-1.0.9a and alsa-oss-1.0.9 package installed, useing the default dmix.
My distrobution is slackware 10.2

My sound works perfect with all games and apps exept quake2.

ps. i searched the forum but couldn't find anything, same whit goolge i found the problem but no suitable solution.

Solved by running quake2.sh or sdlquake2 insted of quake2.
