If so, How can I do it?

Thanks a lot!!

/bin/bash 04-12-2004 07:10 PM

Look here.

They work very well, (and natively) on the linux platform, some people have think they work even faster/smoother than with windows.

Now another problem

Thanks a lot. I have well installed quake with quake.x11 linux binaries. But I can't run it.

I type: cd /usr/local/games/quake
./quake.x11

It tells me: ---> bash: ./quake.x11: No existe el fichero o el directorio (Translation: File or directory does not exist)

LavaDevil94 04-13-2004 02:28 PM

that problem has popped up on forums before, try searching for it.

J_angel2000 04-13-2004 03:51 PM

It was

Yes, Lava, this problem was told in other post but it wasn't solved.

LavaDevil94 04-13-2004 08:34 PM

what have you tried so far? the only thing i can think of is trying this:
chmod +x quake.x11

J_angel2000 04-14-2004 07:37 AM

Yes, LavaDevil, I have done it. It doesn't work anyway

LavaDevil94 04-14-2004 03:03 PM

from what i see on that link, it looks like there are alot of different quake engine source forks. maybe you could try a different engine? i heard darkplaces works pretty well...

J_angel2000 04-14-2004 04:03 PM

.

Thanks Lava for helping me...

I'm sure it's my fault. I have tried 3 quake engines (fuhquake, squake, quake-x11)

I'm exhausted, I don't know what I do wrong...

LavaDevil94 04-14-2004 08:29 PM

you tried darkplaces? if youve played transfusion ( http://transfusion.sf.net ) a blood-like game built on the quake engine, it uses darkplaces, and it works great. try that.

J_angel2000 04-15-2004 09:15 AM

Lava, :-( I'm so newbie...

Could you be so kind of telling me how to install Darkplaces? I have looked for information and I have tried but I don't success.

I have downloaded it from: http://icculus.org/twilight/darkplaces/download.html

I have downloaded the file: DarkPlaces engine Windows OpenGL build 20031207b

Can you explain me? I would be so thankful. Besides, that would help me installing other programs.

THANKS

Tell me you do have the WINDOWS version of quake installed in /usr/local/games/quake
Just the linux binary (i.e. quake.x11) on its own isn't enough. You need to put quake.x11 into the same directory as a windows version of the game (the same folder that contains the id1 directory. You also then need to make all the filenames lowercase.

Thanks Komakino.

Yes, I have the windows version of Quake. And I also did all the things you have told me except the last one. I don't know what that it means. Make all the filenaes lowercase?

LavaDevil94 04-19-2004 02:03 PM

ya, if somethings like YOURFILE.PAK, you should change it to yourfile.pak.
