Quake 3 Error in Mandrake 9.1

Hi I can't run Quake 3 Arena on a Mandrake 9.1 machine with a GeForce4 MX440 64MB DDR. Here's the error:

Error: GLimp_Init() - could not load OpenGL subsystem

I see this alot on linux questions but have not been able to solve the problem. Thanks!

type glxinfo at the console. is there a direct rendering: yes there? you could try the nvidia drivers for your card too.
