Quake 3 bots don't use weapons

Hi,

I installed quake3 from one of the Fedora Core 6 repositories and copied required pk3 files. Now the game starts up and works fine, but none of the bots swiches to any weapon. They only attack using that 'saw' tool that they have, even after picking rocket launchers. Whats the problem here? Please help me.

I am getting around 25-30 fps with my Intel 865GBF onboard card. Is this okay? Any idea about drivers for Fedora Core 6?

Regards,
unpredictable

I'm not a quake fan though...

I guess it's really great for your intel graphics "card" to get those rates but, can you actually play at 25-30 fps? Pretty much like a slideshow, isn't it?

Yeah, I'm able to play. I just enable the 'draw_fps' thing, and its showing those values only. The only problem is those bots not behaving well, so even 'nightmare' is like fighting with great bots without any weapon. Anyone has any idea?

Hmmm, seems to me that sort of bot behaviour glitch would be some setting within the game itself, and
unrelated to the video card or drivers.... Havent played quake for quite a while, but do play UT and
UT2004 on linux a lot. Anything that would make the bots act like that is within a config file for
the game itself.

In Unreal, the bot settings would be in files UnrealTournament.ini or User.ini.
Forget offhand the name of the quake config files, but that is where I would look first.

As far as the FPS, only thing I can think of to improve that, would be to get a better video card.
Nvidia or ATI even....

Start a game on a local server and run the addbot command with the highest skill level in the console. For example 'addbot sarge 5'(add sarge with skill level 5... I don't remember if thats the highest, you might want to try 6 instead). If all the bots only use the gauntlet I don't know what to do, but it's definatley a setting somewhere that causes this.
