Problems with Quake 4

Heya,

Until a recent "reformat" I've been able to play Quake 4 just fine under Linux. Now I can't get past the intro movie (even if I press Escape), it just hangs. If I let the movie run, it gets to "Alright maggots" and freezes.

I've tried running it under Ubuntu (32- and 64-bit) and Arch Linux (64-bit, for some reason I can't use 32-bit). Curiously on Arch too, I see random lines appear intermittently (sp?).

Any ideas what could be up? I find it really curious that it should stop working now, after a fair time of it working just fine. I always use the same xorg.conf (it's backed up on my server, as so I don't lose it).

Cheers

Can't be the xorg.conf then!

What's your video card?
what drivers do you have installed?
Post your xorg.conf
post the output of glxgears
and glxinfo | grep direct
