No sound w/ Quake 3 Arena

I just got Quake 3 Arena installed on my fresh Fedora installation, along with my onboard sound. Now I can play songs in xmms, but when I run Quake there is no sound.

Code:
------- sound initialization -------
/dev/dsp: Device or resource busy
Could not open /dev/dsp
------------------------------------
I have nvidia nforce (ac97) integrated audio. Any ideas?

Do you have anything else using /dev/dsp at the time, like XMMS or MPlayer? Close them. Still get that error? Try these commands:
killall artsd
killall esd
aRts and ESD are desktop sound servers. aRts goes with KDE, while ESD belongs to Gnome. If Q3 now works, you can disable the servers from starting up by default by using the environments control center.

Hi
im also having the same problem, all those sound servers are disabled. I can play quake3 without xmms. But if xmms is open i cant play, the game just locks up on sound init.
Im using the ALSA Drivers for my nforce, i think it uses the Intel drivers?
is there a way to let my have my music and play games at the same time ?. I know its capable with multiple sounds because i can have 2 XMMS windows open and can play 2 different songs
