Anyone having sound problems in Wolfenstein Enemy territory or other games can try the suggestions here. I am running Debian Etch, not Ubuntu, but the suggestions work for most distros. If not, change the commands a little bit to fit your distro. Let me know if this helps.

yeah I had to whack an esd process as well - to solve my problem with doomsday. If anyone hears of a better fix, I'm interested to know about it!

EDIT: But *now* when I start a game, there's a brief picture of the ingame screen, and then I'm crashed back to the desktop, with a mouse points that no longer moves.

Dah! ANy ideas??
