Scortched3D

Scortched earth clone. For those of you that don't remember, scortched earth was an old DOS game, but this one has been done in stunning 3D.

I don't think it is known yet.... my guess would be that they will be fairly scalable , and will probably run on a mid range machine (something in the 1.2 ghz range with a GeForce 2 or 3)....They need to push the boundaries, but also maxamize thier customer base. If they said that the game required a 3.2 ghz system with a Top of the line radeon, then they are going to severly limit the number of people who can play the game, and this of course also limits the number of people that will BUY the game.

It is great to see that there are more and more linux games...

I hope that there will be more games ported to linux.
I am changing to linux this weekend. I only play AA so it is useless to stay under windows. I had quite some trouble getting my graph. card to work.

but to return to the topic.

Half-life could be ported to linux. It is quite possible, and it looks like the devs had even put changes in their source to make it linux-compatible.

So I guess you will be able to play it under linux. However this is just a rumour and I haven't got the source on my HD at the moment. (should check IRC for that.) Just to give you guys some hope.

Geert.

i think the makefiles in the HL2 source were for the server, not the client . transgaming will probably work on it when its released, though.

Transgaming ports do not a Linux native make... Transgaming ports are glorified WineX games.

That said I advocate what Transgaming is doing. They are making it possible to play more games under Linux which can only enhance Linux adoption.

Hi, I know this thread is as old as fire, but HAS anyone been able to get the linux version lately?

I'm having a really hard time trying to run ANYTHING in wine.

Thanks.

Right now, I think you're SOL. Alpha Centauri is by far the hardest to find loki title. There are apparently is no way to get a Win version to work as a Linux native like as in the Quake, Doom and Unreal games...
