Morrowind Issues
Hi, I recently tried installing Morrowind to my box (Slackware 9.1) using WineX 3.2. It installed fine, albeit taking forever. However when I go to run the game I get the error "Music Error: could not play file data files/music/special/morrowind title.mp3" or something to the sort. I googled for it, checked on Morrowind's official site, but that offered no help. (I cannot help that it is not associated to Windows Media Player for obvious reasons) Has anyone gotten Morrowind to work under Wine or WineX and can offer some help?
Installing under Wine doesn't work either, i get an App Error with some random negative value. Thanks, --ssba |
did you look at the game's forum at transgaming.com? i dont have anything else to suggest...

Go and move that music directory to like music.old because I had the same problem with the game and that was the only solution. Now no music will be able to play but atleast you will be able to play the game.

OK, I move Data Files/Music to music.old, and now i get the error
"Music file not found: Data Files\Music\Special\morrowind title.mp3 Continue running executable?" I click yes, it just comes up again. I click no, the program exits. Is there any way to get out of the infinite loop? |
OK, I have gotten it to work.
It appears that *with* the Music folder, it hangs. Without it, I get the infinite loop error. What I have to do is start up morrowind with the Music folder as something akin to 'music.old', wait until the error message comes up, move it back to 'Music', click Yes, and it works just fine. |
ssba, are you runnig morrowind in window(not full screen)? If not, tell me please how you moving music dir back at place. I use kde and can't switch to another app while any windows game is runing in full screen mode. And can you please post here an example of how to edit morrowind.ini file so that plugins should work?
Thanks. |
I don't know how they are but I saw that on http://www.sourceforge.net, you can actually download a binary for morrowind to install it directly under Linux. I haven't tried them yet myself, but it's worth a try though.
