Looking for LAN Based Chess

Looking for a LAN Based Chess application for Linux Ubuntu.

1) No browser-based games.
2) LAN connectivity required. (Internet optional, no random opponents.)
3) Most have an option to pause/disable timer.

I am looking for a way to play chess with my boss during down time at work, since this is still a job, we will need to pause or not have a time limit so our game doesn't run a timer while we are working.
We are IT guys, but simple installation is preferred, a small bit of network trickery may be possible.

Thanks in advance. Please send links to the official sites of the recommended programs!

According to this, you might want to take a look at lichess.

I have not tested it. I stopped playing chess when I discovered contract bridge.
