Lineage II and Winex 3.2 ? (pls help)

Ok so I got the beta, and I got admitted. And I want to play -preferably in Linux!

I read you needed to have directx 8.1 installed and that's what tipped me off! It runs into the menu but my mouse cant be moved and the two login boxes aren't quite working :/

It's apparent to me that this game might be working with a few tweaks here and there. Anyone done this ? If yes, how so ?

Wouldn't it be cool to have a working mmorpg in Linux ? Well this one seems close to !

Wouldn't the point of being a beta tester be to report this to the game developers and/or Transgaming (or both, if you're a subscriber) in order to get it working?

Are there any other beta testers who are trying to get this working under Linux? You'd think that talking to them would be the most productive line of inquiry.

With so little information about the program internals, WineX internals, and with so few people having this to test (since it's a beta), it's pretty hard to do more than guess what config tweaks you might try to fix the problem... and you're a beta tester, fiddling around is what you've signed on for, anyway ;) .

So, go fiddle :D !

.... and yes, it would be cool, so... good luck!

Yup I did. However I have a limited knowledge of how Winex runs, what tricks and tweaks there is (all in all not too extensive linux knowledge either)

But the beta can be downloaded by ANYONE and the problems I face are right before you login (which means that you won't have to be a beta tester to look at it)

But thanks for the good luck wishes anyway..

OK, that explains a couple of things.... would you please post the contents of ~/.wine/config, or ~/.transgaming/config, or whatever the config file for your install of WineX is (the way you installed it will put config in a different directory, depending)?

When you run the game, start it from a terminal, and post any relevant-looking output as well. I'm in the middle of a couple of other things, so I can't try to install this right now and see for myself, but I can certainly see if anything jumps out at me as misconfigured or obviously problematic.

Btw, do you have Windows available? If so, what version? I ask because I've found that under both Wine and WineX (though a bit less so under WineX CVS), it does help to have a few native dlls handy, and a few Common Files as well. Fortunately, I backed up said files before sending Win98 to the Recycle Bin forever, but unfortunately, if you're emulating something like XP instead, I don't know how well this strategy works.

well, one possible solution might be to upgrade your winex, since its 3.2, and the latest is 3.3.1. another thing: have you tried it with regular wine?

Dark Carnival 04-17-2004 10:16 AM

Will go through all this when I can. Thanks alot :)
no haven't tried the newest winex or wine.

Hi!

I'm trying to run Lineage 2 under GNU/Linux, but the link posted above doesn't work now.
If anyone can remember how to play, please tell me.

While, I continue trying
Thanks
