Is there a Star Fighter game on linux; which linux OS? recommendation appreciated

Hello,

I would like to give the last life activity to my AMD K6-III 550MHz 768MB RAM (see signature) as a playing station for friends appreciating star fighter games of the 85' years.
(today this PC has TinyCoreLinux.. but I bough a Pentium 4 in eBay.. so it will be replaced the next weeks by this new modern machine).

-> what type of star fighter game do you recommend?
-> on which OS is it running? (Debian, DOS?)
-> where to find an installation advice in the internet?
-> what type of joystick should I buy for using it? (USB joystick modell..)

Then.. I will install it in my playroom with "babyfoot" "dart" for big boys > 40 years old.. (I dont like iPODS, Playstations etc. ).
Thanks to the community.

What's a "star fighter game"?

Obvious suggestion:
http://sc2.sourceforge.net

Other possible suggestions:
http://www.scoregasm-game.com/
http://www.desura.com/games/jamestow...he-lost-colony
http://vegastrike.sourceforge.net/
http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/starflight_1_2/ (this should be DosBox-based)

For me "Star Fighter" is..
- killing/attacking aliens in space ships
- dont think too much (else pains in the brain are coming)
- basic functions
-.. a bit of wild shooting with success experience..
;-)
By googling I found few things. But a lot of game are for high spec PCs (not like mine).
I will keep looking/searching.
