What do you mean? What did you download? If you downloaded a Windows executable, you can't run those natively under Linux. You should look for a Linux equivalent of the software you need. You may, however, be able to run the executable with Wine.

Thanks for your reply I have managed to install the program using wine. It was a trading chart program unfortunately it would not allow me to continue until I erased my debugging file. So I had to give this a miss.
