I don't know about mdk, but on FC2 (x.org) you have to do some thing to your xorg.conf file (in your case, XF86Config-4):
Code:
In the Modules section, near the top of the file.
Change the line:
Load "dri"
to
#Load "dri"
Unfortunately I can't remember the others.

I have allways been tempted to try slackware... How is the installer? easy hard medium? Ive installed many distros of linux college redhat fedora mandrake debian gentoo.. and the only ones i had issues installing were debian and gentoo... Ive also used free bsd 4.9 and 5.2, both were pritty fun to get up and running..
any description of the install would be cool.. Graphical, text? do the desktop gui's come with it? X etc? Ive used college linux witch is based off of slackware and can use all the slackware files etc. And i wouldent mind doing a install like that again.. But i dont wanna use that distro because they dont update very often and there latest distro Wasnt competely bug /defect free.

I enjoy my Slackware 10. The installer is fairly straightforward. Make sure you know how to partition though. You can boot from the CD into the installer. Don't follow the guide on the website too literally as it doesn't appear to be updated (yet). Most of it is good info (ok, so-so). By default (tho changeable) Slackware boots to the shell and you have to start x yourself. It is a very straightforward distro though and according to this website the third most popular!

hmm that sounds just like the install of college linux, Witch was my favorite distro based offa slackware.. Just stoped useing it because They havent updated it yet.. But slackware has been updated i noticed, im downloading it right now..

Yeah i made a backup, But it wont lemme boot linux and when i get into the black screen it sais a buncha stuff is messed up.. The problem isnt realy that fix for it.. Its the way i tryed to fix it back.. I figured ide just change the text back to what i rememberd... Bad idea i shoulda just cp ed.. But hey forget it, cant dwell on these things..

I am very good at partitioning if i do say so my self.. I do all my partitioning schemes manual, lets me have control over what Im doing...

I realy hate to ditch mandrake tho, I was starting to like it and i never have befor.. But The 2 times ive tryed it the nvidia drivers didnt work (not a big deal first time as all i was usein if for was programming) But This time I had big plans for it.

OOOh and does it have some sorta a (ports system as its called in bsd) uhh Apt-get in debian,, Slapt-get in college linux? does it have some sorta system like that Its not a needed but its a nice feature.

try these commmands:
fsck
fsck -f
and run them..
that should repair your hard.

SlackWare install was a complete sucess, I allways wanted to try slackware but i allways hear people whineing about how hard it is.. It was strait forward just like Crucifer said! First attempt all up and running... Im gonna drop this forum, as i think im gonna wait to install mandrake after a new release comes out (i like were they are heading) but there nvidia drivers are allwas broken from what i hear... And Ive checked around like a mad man and no one seems to realy made any progress on installing theres either.. And if they did they had other issues after!

Slackware should entertain me for a while any way..
Ide like to thank every one who tryed to help me and express my apologies for not sticking all the way threw with this.
