Instal the Quake 3 failure...


I got the linuxq3apoint-1.32b.x86.run from the internet.
but when i install it:
"#sh linuxq3apoint-1.32b.x86.run"
there are some error messages

Are you running X when you try to instal it?
Are you logged in as root when you try to install it?
If yes to both of the above try "xhost +" at a command prompt before you try to run the install.

yes...
i'm running IceWM now ,but not use the root account to loggin it.
when i running IceWM,and than i opened a Konsole.in it.i type like that.

vvlaw@vvlaw:~$ su
Password:
vvlaw:/home/vvlaw#sh *.run

and than, it show the error messages

Whenever I get errors like that I try running sudo instead of su

eg sudo sh blah

I found that worked when using 'make xconfig' and I got errors.

I think the problem is your using an old 1.32b point release. You need the 1.32b-3 point release instead of the normal 1.32b
There is a guide at the bottom of this page for getting Quake3 installed properly. It also has a link to a place where you can grab the 1.32b-3 installer.
