slack-fu 02-24-2011 06:37 PM

Wonder how many will tell you that you can find it in China :)

Please do a Google search before posting your questions here. But you already should know that.

TigerLinux 02-25-2011 03:07 AM

i cant find the best one, i want a game for linux

corp769 02-25-2011 03:11 AM

Can you please tell us what EXACTLY you are looking for? Thanks!

TobiSGD 02-25-2011 06:56 AM

I am really wondering. A LQ member with 1350 posts, and he still doesn't know a) how to Google before posting, and b) how to ask questions in a good way.
I just think that he really is to lazy to look himself for answers, and that he thinks that we will do the work for him.
TigerLinux, from now on you are on my ignore list, I don't want to support such a behavior.

EricTRA 02-25-2011 07:03 AM

Hi TobiSGD,

Have a look at TigerLinux's posts, I mean the contents instead of the numbers, you'll know what I mean.

Kind regards,

Eric

Just a note: When I googled, lots of results popped up within the first 20 search threads. Can you please tell us the exact search terms that you used?

Your answer addresses one issue unsatisfactorily, & the other not at all. Please answer both requests as asked.

Thank you.

Well, do a search for one and install it.

Kind regards

EricTRA 02-27-2011 09:31 AM

Hi,

As already mentioned by several other users, search online and get one. On the other hand if you need something more specific then please provide a lot more detailed information. You're not making any sense at all and looking more and more like a troll.

Kind regards,

Eric

Ok, check it out man. For example - https://encrypted.google.com - Click on that.

Ok, now for the big one - Paste the following, into, the search bar: I want Chinese Chess game
(Or for clarification, click http://tinyurl.com/4bdnykc )

Woohoo, this thread is the first link :D

Cheers,

Josh

EricTRA 02-27-2011 10:47 AM

Hi,

LOL, nice one Josh. If OP doesn't find what he needs now or doesn't provide any clearer information or description, then this thread should be closed for excessive trolling.

Kind regards,

Eric

corp769 02-27-2011 10:48 AM

Exactly, cheers Eric!

Forgive the bluntness, but what part of Official LQ Moderator requests don't you understand?
Answer my questions before you post to LQ again.
Please do not force me to ban from LQ to get your attention. Thank you.

BTW, Your current post count is 1,360 & your most recent post is here (in this thread).

TigerLinux 02-28-2011 07:10 PM

I just asked for a software link, hope that someone who knows it will tell me and safe my time to search for craps.

dugan 02-28-2011 07:46 PM

Battle Chess II: Chinese Chess.

Buy it from GOG.com:
http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/battl...pecial_edition

It runs in DosBox, so you can set it up to run in Linux.

TigerLinux 03-01-2011 01:23 AM

I am a poor chess player, I know a bit about Chinese Chess, but I know nothing about Western Chess.
I heard that western chess is more difficult to play than chinese chess, is it true?

I know it's true that archtoad6 said the following: "Answer my questions before you post to LQ again."

TigerLinux 03-03-2011 11:01 PM

case closed.
objective achieved.

archtoad6 03-04-2011 08:20 AM

No way, TigerLinux, this is not closed -- You owe me answers to 2 official Moderator questions asked above. The only reason I have not banned you from LQ for failing to answer & violating a Moderator directive, is that I haven't had time to do it correctly according to LQ proceedures in place to protect members' rights from arbitrary moderator action.

I renew my directive: your next post must be an answer to questions.

You are in a race against the clock to see if I ban you before I get my answers.

1) I use baidu, not google. Do you read chinese?
2) People accused me of trolling, what can I say? Am I to admit that I am lazy?

You sound hard, like Gadaffi.

Why assume I must use google, I can use baidu or bing.
I get this:

But it is difficult to download, too many popups.

He didn't mean that it is compulsory to use Google.com, he meant that you should search before posting and also should show whatever you searched which didn't/did help. Google has become a synonym for web search now a days. And secondly if baidu or bing don't satisfy your needs then you SHOULD try Google.com.

I don't understand, why do I need to inform the Moderator the results of my search?
Do I need to report to him my daily activities? My personal things?
Every morning what time I wake up, every night what time I go to sleep, do I need to tell people?
I come here just to ask people for a chinese chess game, if you know and willing to tell me, then you tell me. I did not force you to answer me.

Maybe you should read this:

Freedom of speech is the freedom to speak freely without censorship or limitation, or both. The synonymous term freedom of expression is sometimes used to indicate not only freedom of verbal speech but any act of seeking, receiving and imparting information or ideas, regardless of the medium used. In practice, the right to freedom of speech is not absolute in any country and the right is commonly subject to limitations, such as on "hate speech".

Because he and the rest of us believe that you rarely search Google before asking a question here.

Can I ask why your English all of a sudden got so much better?

And for the record, freedom of speech doesn't mean anything, trust me...

XavierP 03-05-2011 11:16 AM

While we at LQ very much support freedom of speech, forums do not have unlimited free speech, this is why we have moderators - if all forum speech was completely free, the risk to Jeremy's reputation and legal freedoms would be too high. The reason we ask members to post the results of their searches is really very very simple: it stops the following happening:
Quote:

member a I am looking for some software
member b I think that <software 1> would be what you need
member a That's no good, I've tried it already
member b What about <software 2>?
member a No, that's been tried too
and so on. By posting your searches and what you have tried and what has not worked, you help us to help you.

Since you didn't ask that in proper English, you just pretty much told us you are useless. You would need to say "Am I" instead of "I am."

I agree, but not only I is worthless, all human beings are worthless with regard to this planet,
because WE Destroy nature, We Deplete natural resources and created poisonous pollution,
All people are worthless, the parasites of this planet.

The planet one day will become as the one in Wall-E movie, full of rubbish, no plants, all animals die.

Human beings are useless, idiots, scams!

humans killed humans more than animals killed animals.
humans are worthless.
Look at Libya, it is just a world of animals.

TigerLinux 03-10-2011 10:27 PM

I know it is not linux-related remarks,
I am just responding to the question "is human worthless?"
It can not be denied that "The world won't be destroyed by animals, but possibly by human beings".
