Hooligans Storm Europe - problems running in wine (Ubuntu)

I'm having some problems running the game Hooligans Storm Over Europe using Wine and running Ubuntu 9.04

When I try and start the game using the command:

Quote:

env WINEPREFIX="/home/kev/.wine" wine "C:\Program Files\Hooligans\hooligans.exe"
I get the following error message:

Quote:

err:alsa:ALSA_CheckSetVolume Could not find 'PCM Playback Volume' element
err:alsa:ALSA_CheckSetVolume Could not find 'PCM Playback Volume' element
fixme:mixer:ALSA_MixerInit No master control found on CA0106, disabling mixer
fixme:mixer:ALSA_MixerInit No master control found on VF0380 Live! Cam Optia Pro, disabling mixer
I do not have a problem with the sound on some of the other games I run on through Wine. Does anybody have a fix for this??

Are you sure your ALSA setup is working and functional?

If, in a terminal, you type

Code:

alsamixer
what happens?

This problem seems to have nothing to do with Wine, or the game you are trying to run.

The Alsamixer works without any problems. Typing in alsamixer in the terminal brings up the sound level setup.

I see you use Ubuntu and FC11.

Have you tried to do this in FC11 as well? It has some sound bugs / pulseaudio problems out of the box. Did you auto-update it or otherwise fix the sound issues the "bare" FC11 has?

If you have, try it there (i. e. not in Ubuntu) and see if it behaves in the same way...

If it does, see what happens if you try a newer version of wine (if any). I've seen these types of ALSA error messages before, but it was mostly using a driver that was for an older physical hardware version. I. e. my ALSA driver was out of date with my hardware - but I doubt this is what is going on here...

Sorry for the delayed response rylan76, I have not been able to install Hooligans on Fedora, it fails when I try to install it through Wine. Anyway I do apologize for my lack of correspondence, I hope that I can work around this. I am able to play other games on Wine without any problems with the sound.
