Half-Life issues on WineX 3.1

I installed Half-Life and the update hassle free, and for the most part it runs fine. There's slight bugs in the menu screen, but other than that fine. However, it locks up every time it loads up the new levels. I've tried both the training mission, and starting an actual game, and both times the game runs fine until I leave a level and start loading up a new one. Then it freezes at the 'Loading...' label.

Half-Life is so damn popular I know somebody's had this problem before. Can anybody lend a hand? Thanks!

Hmmm. I had this problem when I tried to play HL off my read-only NTFS drive under wine. Copying hl onto a writeable partition did the trick there. If you already have write access to your hl folder then I have no idea what's wrong .

Same here, i finally got it to work when i moved it from my NTFS to my ext*. the problem seemed since NTFS didnt have write enabled(which it shouldnt...) it wouldnt save any settings therefore making it freeze to hell.

Does it do it both as user and root? What is the command you are using? Also, are you doing auto login?
