Guild Wars - Linux Guild Forming

Seeing as how Guild Wars is now officially supported by Cedega, there's at least a snowball's chance in hell you can get the game to run. More and more Linux users are going to at least give it a stab, so I figured now was prime time to start a guild devoted to us Linux users.

Penguin Huggers Anonymous (PHA) is now accepting members.

Post here with your in-game name, and I'll get you an invite, if you're interested. If you don't feel like posting here because you're too much of a sissy to be called a penguin hugger, e-mail me at andrewd18 _at_ gmail.com.

Name: Remin of Eight

Off topic: I have ubuntu on an XP 2600+ w/ 512ram and a 128mb nvidia FX card and it runs nicely with all the options turned down. What hardware do you have and how does it run. I was thinking I might get a new GFX card...? Please email... I don't check this forum often.

Remin, Rannos, your invites have been sent in-game. 9:30 AM, CDT, 2005-08-16. :)

*edit* Remin, I've got an Athlon 64 with 512MB of RAM and a FX 5700, but I have most of my options at the defaults. I *should* turn it down, but my sense of aesthetics prevents me. :)

Is there any try-verson of guild wars?
Hate buying games without knowing if they are fun or if they are gonna run on my computer.

Thanks for the invite!

Thanks for the invite... we need to keep spreading the word about GW and linux... and get all linux users in this guild. If we make it large enough to notice they might actually release a native GW! :)

As far as I know, there is no "Demo" version of Guild Wars. However, there are plenty of trailers and things on the Guild Wars website. guildwars.com.

Sure it's good news for all gamers that now Guild Wars can be run on Linux via Cedega, but I don't think this should be the way to play games on Linux. As long as you need Cedega to run games, the developers won't bother to make a Linux client for the game, thus it will never be games for Linux cause Cedega does the trick.
I really think we (Linux users) should push developers to make Linux binaries in order to pay and play (Just like WoW petition), not just pay and use Cedega (you're paying twice) without the certaincy (does it exist??) of working.

This is not a post against Cedega, but a thought on Linux games and how users "should" behave in order to have native games for Linux.
