Diablo II plays almost flawlessly under wine on fedora 4. I have only had some issues with the floor rendering but I think that is a problem with my configuration. I believe Counter Strike 3 (if my memory serves me right) plays perfect under wine as well.

I must admit, Professor Fizzwizzle [linuX-gamers.net] is very addictive :)

I'm not continuing the promotion; however, I don't think a linux game should be removed simply because he was the creator.

His first post, linking to his own product, that's advertising and that's why it was yanked.

Sorry guys, I didn't figure it would count as advertising in a thread asking about Linux games... I could have posted under a fake name and there would've been no problem, but that would have been dishonest. Also, you'll see my registration date is Nov 2004... I'm not new here; I just lurk.

Anyway, I apologize if I have broken the rules. Shant happen again.

I see Falcon's Eye has been mentioned a few times - I played it back on Windows - good lighted hearted fun :) . I've been trying to get it to run on Debian (sarge) but after choosing a character, I just get a blank screen. A quick google suggests I'm not the only one, has anyone here experienced/overcome this bug? As a last resort, I can try run the windows version through wine ...but that really would smack of lameness.

Bremsstrahlung 10-23-2005 03:15 PM

I've had similar problems with Falconeye. It was just never updated past an unstable version, I think. It froze for me right after loading up the screen, and then I can't close out of it because the program becomes an unkillable zombie. Pain in the butt.. hope someone picks the project back up one of these days.

I see a lot posted here and elsewhere about rpg and fps games. Personally, I enjoy flight simulators such as (gasp!) MS Combat FS. I've googled and it seems there are only two or three flight sims and none that are combat (online or against the computer) systems.

Anyone know of a good one? Will the MS CFS run under Wine?

Thanks

Tim

Hey guys,

Don't forget TrueCombat at www.truecombat.com - FREE but you need ET (which is also FREE) :)

i think i saw somewhere that the filename for the current version is armyops230-linux.run, so a search for the filename might work for you:

http://www.google.com/search?&q=armyops230-linux.run

there's isn't a common installation method for all games... so it depends on which game you are talking about... some games you just need to execute a .run file to start the install and then it's all point and click, some you need to go through the ./configure ; make ; make install routine, some don't need to be installed (just executed), some might be RPM files which just need to be installed using your package manager, etc... etc... etc...

you have a much better shot of getting help with your installation issues if you specify which game(s) you are trying to install...
