different environment after xfree 4.2
I was trying to compile wine when it said i didnt have xfree86 or xlib, so i downloaded xfreeix86-glibc22, control + alt + f2'd it, typed telinit 3, typed cd xinstall (which is the directory i placed the xfree files to), and types sh Xinstall.sh which started the installation.
It prompted about ouverwriting some files and a said ok.
The problem is now when i start linux my login screen is normal, but no matter what name i choose to login to, or what interface i decide to use, gnome etc, when linux starts its not the desktop. Its a grayish looking window with a box attatched to my pointer that moves with it, when i click on the screen it plants the box there, it has a few different sections on it.
The sections say client list, session log, checkpoint, and shutdown...the window is called xsm: default
when u click and hold down on the gray background this menu pops up:
"twm"
iconify
resize
move
raise
lower
focus
unfocus
show iconmgr
hide iconmgr
xterm
kill
delete
restart
exit
also i get the command prompt (if thats what u call it) window that is moveable around the screen, it looks like a very very very simple gui, nothing near gnome.
Id really like to get linux back to normal, anyone know whats up?
