games for linux??

hello everybody,

what games have u been playing in your linux machine? I have rh9 as my distro but till now i haven't gamed on it. I am thinkin' of starting though. so guys help me out here, and give me a list of games that runs on linux and particulary in rh9. role playing games are best for me. also if they are free;)

lets have fun!!!

A couple of places to check for Linux games is happypenguin.org & libSDL.org Both list quite a few games of all categories (inluding RPG).

The biggest problem is in finding games that run on older distributions (RH 9 is at least 4 years old). Some game developers are always jumping on the latest library versions, even though there are features they don't use, which means downloading and building libraries as well. I've seen games released that require library versions that were only released a couple of days earlier.

Just something to be aware of.

Doom series, Quake series, UT2003/4, Neverwinter Nights, Uplink, Darwinia, and the games that came with my distro. Whether any of them will work on such an old distro is another matter.

get Wesnoth(www.wesnoth.org), the gratest open-source game ever. It works on all distributions and even is included on some distros(albeit old versions of it)

It seems everybody has moved on! I guess I should too but this distro of mine is so personally customized by me for me, I will surely hate to do the same thing in a newer distro. anyway about games

well..are they free?

Why you are saying Wesnoth does not work?
You need either an rpm (Suse for instance, though it has an old version or SDL+build from the tarball.. You can post problems in the forums over there...)

I Play ut2k4, doom and quake native, and Warcraft 3, Diablo 2 and Starcraft through wine.

I'm also thinking of buying darwina, as the demo was really nice, but I think it would be nicer with multi player features.
