FCE Ultra "Error opening a sound device

Heya, first time posting a question here. I typically don't like asking questions on forums, and prefer to search for an answer first; however, I'm unable to find any answers with this issue given the distro I use, so... here I am.

Just using the default onboard sound card, "Intel Corporation 82801JI (ICH10 Family) HD Audio Controller" is what lspci says.

Distro is Fedora Core 14 x64

Did "yum install fceultra" to install the emulator. When I ran it with an old NES RPG I'd been wanting to replay lately, the game runs fine with the exception of sound. The following is the output:

Code:
[Sean@localhost NES]$ fceultra roms/quest_of_the_avatar.nes

Starting FCE Ultra 0.98.13...
Loading roms/quest_of_the_avatar.nes...

 PRG ROM: 16 x 16KiB
 CHR ROM: 0 x 8KiB
 ROM CRC32: 0xa25a750f
 ROM MD5: 0x90e1d4c2fb8765a0d97f08dc10522b87
 Mapper: 1
 Mirroring: Horizontal
 Battery-backed.

Initializing video...
Initializing with OpenGL(Use "-opengl 0" to disable).
 Video Mode: 640 x 448 x 32 bpp
Paletted texture extension not found. Using slower texture format...
Initializing sound...Error opening a sound device.
I've tried numerous solutions, 99% of which are for Ubuntu, and didn't ultimately work.

Sound works 100% on anything else -- MP3s, flash, messengers, DVDs, etc.

If you have any ideas, or need additional info on my system and setup, feel free to help. Bear in mind that my usage with Linux has always been pretty limited, so I'm still kinda new to it.

Thanks much.

Personally I would try fceux. Its a fork of FCE Ultra but IMO works better.
