Extra X init screen, for wine games, (UnrealGold) Slackware box/

SEE

http://www.mail-archive.com/gentoo-u.../msg25492.html

I need to do something like that. I run the game UnrealGold under wine. Minus the fact that its getting the similar problems the two people from that link have, it works great AND can play online. THose slimeball transgamers would give it a '5'. Plus its my favoruite game.

I do exactly like it says, of course modifiying the commands for my game (This is all on slackware)

And run the exectuable script I stashed in that bin directory and I get..

ftgow@unatco:~$ unrealgold

waiting for X server to shut down

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-
The screen changes and I get a brief glimpse of the x curser in front of the black and white background, yet it chages back to my default X screen (gnome 2.4, mozilla everythings unchanged)

Now that was on gentoo (the warcraft 3 guys setup) and this is slackware so god knows it all different. Regardless I dont know enough about X initliztion, (I had to create the /etc/X11/XSessions direcotry referenced from that the above URL) So im guessing I should be doing it a different way.

So anybody who could help me, that would be really cool and id show you my bum. box. my linux box.

Thanks. If I can just get this to work the application wil be solid, The damn bug/feature of wine full screen gaming drives me nuts. (They should make the wine 'window manager' intergrate with the window managers we all use, for usabliitty. intergrateion, and the fact that the windows window manager looks like crap even when its NOT run through an application layer on a unix system. screw windows.

thanks.

and dear god dont give me the url for the Unreal 1 Under UT Engine thing.
THe game runs better through wine and I can play online.
(I host a server on a wined unreal225f using the tty driver, and that has excellent uptime, a true wine success story)
