Everyone says: No linux games... I Say I love games in Linux!

Man, I could never be happier... I just love playing Neverwinter Nights and as I really switched from windows to linux I was willing to play my lovely game on linux. I got the instructions from bioware site and guess what!? Worked first time! The game is so pretty! And unlike many would say, the game runs really smooth under linux... faster then under windows... I switched many features (as shadows and anti-aliasing) to higher levels and the game keeps running fast what didn't happen under windows. So, I may say I love linux and love playing under linux! THANK YOU BIOWARE! I think everybody should give linux ports a try...

The main problem with Linux games that I've seen is just that, not enough people give them a try, I forget the name, but there was a company that ported games from Windows to Linux, they went bust.

Well I had tryed to play various games in linux...
But the performance of Games are not same as was in windows on same hardware..

I mean I was never successful to achieve the fps in most of the game which i have in windows from same game on same hardware

RickyJaff,
I may say that games running in under linux work far better then under windows for me. Not being linux fanatic. Just saying what happened. NWN was naturally slow under windows. It's so smooth under linux I could give all shadows and anti-aliasing and high resolution fonts a try and everything is still ok. Enjoying a lot!

And wht u will say about "Availibility" for games in Linux..???

I used play "GRAND THEFT" But when i ported my all system to linux without windows!! I have only memories for that...

Loki was that company. Now everyone knows it as "that company I can't remember" Sad, really. And yes BUY linux games everyone.

This problem is most noticable if you try to run games through a compatibility layer such as wine/winex. And yes, games ported and being native to linux (such as NWN, Quake3, UT, UT2K3) in most cases will run smoother than their windows counterparts (well mabe in the case of (UT2K3, the D3D renderer is better than the OGL one).

I hate playing Q3A or ET in windows, at least after playing them in Linux. Just run better.

yeah.... that's the old windows trash generation phenomenum..... nobody knows how but winblows software always get you a little bit more trash, HD trash, RAM trash... trash and trash.... doesn't matter the type... you'll always get trash....
