ePSXe
I'm trying to use the program ePSXe (Playstation Emulator). When I run the program it opens fine. When I select Config, then Video from the menu, the only item in the list is "DISABLED". I press Configure, and nothing happens. Any idea?

Have you downloaded GPU Plugins yet? There are links on ePSXe's website.

Pressing the configure button does not work for me in Linux. Download the plugins as Berto suggested. Get Pete's GPU plugins, they are great:
http://www.pbernert.com/
For every plugin you get/uncompress, it will come with a configure file. Copy or move that file to you cfg directory inside your ePSXe folder and edit it manually. It's very easy and it's 100% the equivalent of pressing the "configure" button. You will need also plugins for sound, joypad (f you want use one), CD-rom and indeed, the PSX Bios.
Good luck!

I am still having problems with the program. Here is my output...
Code:
[rzaleski@Desktop epsxe160lin]$ epsxe
* Running ePSXe emulator version 1.6.0.
* Going out from gui. (exit)
[rzaleski@Desktop epsxe160lin]$ epsxe
* Running ePSXe emulator version 1.6.0.
* Memory handlers init.
* ePSXe: PSX BIOS loaded [/usr/local/epsxe160lin/bios//SCPH7502.bin].
* Init internal cdrom ... ok
* First/Last track: 1 1
* Track 1: (DATA) - Start 0: (00,00,00)
CD(0,2,16) read ioctl failed (5)
CD(35,46,48) read ioctl failed (5)
CD(35,46,49) read ioctl failed (5)
* NTSC cdrom detected.
plugins/gpuPeteD3D.dll: invalid ELF header[rzaleski@Desktop epsxe160lin]$
Could someone post their configuration file? Also, when I unzip the GPU plugin, I don't get a configuration file, I just get a *.dll file and a *.txt (readme) file.

A .dll? Then you are downloading the wrong plugins. Dll's are Windows libraries. Get the Linux versions from the site above and you _will_ get configuration files to edit from.

I realized that and questioned it. I have downloaded the proper drivers, and now it is working. Now, I just have to get some playstation games to test it out properly. I don't seem to have any with me as this is for a friend, and I do not own any.

You could always get some really cheap games at ebay ![Smilie](https://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/images/smilies/smile.gif) . Or download it... (wait, did I say that out loud? If I did, download Final Fantasy games, they are worthless, but at least you can test the emulator)

Ok. I have purchased a legitimate PS2 game. In ePSXe, I can configure my video plugin. I can boot successfully to the BIOS. When I try to boot to a cd (/dev/hda or /mnt/cdrom), I just get a black screen with the following error message:
Code:
# epsxe
* Running ePSXe emulator version 1.6.0.
* Memory handlers init.
* ePSXe: PSX BIOS loaded [/usr/local/epsxe160lin/bios//SCPH7001.bin].
* Init internal cdrom ... ok
* First/Last track: 1 1
* Track 1: (DATA) - Start 0: (00,00,00)
CD(0,2,16) read ioctl failed (5)
CD(35,46,48) read ioctl failed (5)
CD(35,46,49) read ioctl failed (5)
* NTSC cdrom detected.
* Init gpu[0][libgpuPeopsSoftX.so.1.0.17]
* Open gpu[0]
CD(0,2,16) read ioctl failed (5)
CD(0,2,0) read ioctl failed (5)
Any ideas?

What are the permissions for your cdrom drive? I had to change those on my system.

I tried running ePSXe as root and still no luck. How do I check the permissions on the DVD-ROM drive?

help with epsxe
When I try running or configuring sound or video it gives me the following error: undefined symbol: XftDrawSetClip. I'm fairly new at linux and I'm running slackware 10.1. If anyone could give me some help it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
