Post Enemy territory under Fedora 1 - Black Screen

I recently updated to fedora core after doing something stupid with glibc on redhat9. When it came to install the nvidia drivers there was a compiler mismatch, so i had to override it to get a gfx driver compiled.

The problem now is that enemy territory when started has a black screen, and the interface has disappeared, but i can hear the game loading in the background.

Also the first time i ran quake3 i had serious graphic corruption, but after running it a second time, the corruption had dissapeared. This didnt work with enemy territory.

My question would be:

Is this related to having to compile using a different version of gcc than was used on the kernel, or is this likely a problem with the game (which was installed yesterday without to many problems).

Ive noticed that fedora is missing all sorts of things related to dev, and they are found all over the tree.

Assuming i cant get it working, i'll reinstall redhat 9, as a last resort.

Sorry i seem to have fixed it (how i have no idea), i re-ran it and quit, 10 times, on the 11th try it worked. Im guessing it has to be due to using a different version of gcc.

Looks like i need to recompile the kernel from the source using the new gcc.

Yet i run it a 12th time and it doesnt work. :/

Beginning to dislike linux.

Do not override the error while installing the drivers. Instead use the 3.2 compiler used on the kernel.

export CC=gcc32
sh ./NVIDIA........run -n

This forces the driver installer to compile a fresh copy for you, using your kernel headers and the matching compiler. If you still have issues with blank screens, try using the nvagp module rather than agpgart.

In the Device section of XF86Config
Option "NvAGP" "1"

try deleting (or renaming to be safe) the .so files in /usr/X11R6/lib/tls and see if that helps.
