Arrow Enemy Territory+Linux+PunkBuster=Pain

I'm fairly new to the Linux gaming scene, and I'd really enjoy if I could play Enemy Territory, which I play normally on Windows, on my Red Hat 9.0 system.

I have it installed along with its patches. As soon as I get into a server, and make my first frag or receive my first death, I get kicked from PunkBuster, causing a PB Init Failure error on the server.

So, I figure, hey, I need to update punkbuster. I add all the html files to my PB directory, and nothing happens.

I run pbweb.x86 that I got from the PB site and I get more errors about "Htm to Binary Conversion," and the PB site says that you should try it again and the second time it should work. It doesn't.

Therein stumbles me with two questions for you linux gamers:

A) Shouldn't PB update itself automatically regardless of the Operating System?

B) What should I check in order to get this automatic update (pbweb.x86) to work?

I'm really about it. Please help. Thanks.

Hmm..what do you mean by that?

A) I've ran it as root.
B) I've CHMODed is to 777 (this is what we call in linux server webhosting server), with read, write, execute, for everything.

offtopic: What does changing the permissions to 777 have to do with webhosting

Try removing ( or renaming) you're pb folder and run /pb_cl_update from the game console (~), this solved tfdml37's problem.

Okay, I'll have to try that.

777..if its a linux-served, for scripts to be run, you have to specify file permissions.
